  • MMLM provides medical/clinical rotations in the community, outpatient and hospital settings to medical, nursing and physician assistant students.

CRITERIA FOR MMLM SCHOLARSHIPS:

 I. SCHOLARSHIPS:
A. COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND (CSF)
B. BEBE H. PAJO, MD POST-GRAD SCHOLARSHIP FUND (BP)
C. EMIL C. TAYAG, MD SCHOLARSHIP FUND (ET)
D. MICAEL ALDAY, PT, MD YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP FUND (MA)

E. CAREPRO HOMEHEALTH/HOSPICE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

II. CRITERIA FOR A, B, C & E:
1. Must be at least 18 years old or freshman in College. Immediate relatives of MMLM Board Directors are NOT QUALIFIED to apply to and participate in any of the  Scholarships. 


2. Course of study in any of the ff:
   a. Nursing 
   b. Any 4-year Degree leading to Medicine (BS Nursing, BS Bio,Zoo, Psych, etc)
   c. Any 4-year degree leading to Law (AB Journalism, AB Political Science, etc)
   d. Medicine Proper
   e. Law Proper


3. Transcript of Records (TOR) for the past 2 semesters initially, then Transcript or Certificate of grades from the last semester is required to avail of assistance whether tuition fee or allowance as the case may be. 


4. Resume or CV


5. Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 85% for undergraduate and 80% for Graduate studies (Medicine and Law). 


6. Grade requirement may be waived initially or subsequently in remote cases where financial need for instance, is demonstrated by the applicant should the Scholarship money be withheld or not granted. In this case, a letter of consideration must be written by the applicant or scholar to the MMLM Board. 


7. Must have demonstrated at least 6 months of MMLM Volunteership or apprenticeship or a year of volunteering in any field but preferably in healthcare or legal field.


8. A letter of confirmation from Volunteer Agency is required if not applying as MMLM Volunteer. 


9. A letter of Intent by the applicant outlining his/her goals and aspirations relating to MMLM's core values and Brand of "Community Service with a Heart."
The letter of Intent serves as the cover letter for the application and must be addressed to:

10. Upon initial application, (2) Letters of Recommendation addressed to:

11.  Sample of scholarly writing or published materials. 


12. Tuition assistance of up to P20,000 per semester for College Scholarship; P30,000 for Bebe H. Pajo Post Grad Scholarship. The MMLM Board of Trustee may grant beyond this amount on a case by case basis. 


13. Commitment to MMLM of at least 120 hours of volunteer time, 20 hours of which must be committed to the Annual Medical-Legal Missions. At least 40 hours of scholar's personal time commitment is required. The other 80 hours may be served by an immediate family member who is also an MMLM volunteer.


14. Attendance of MMLM Executive Team meeting once every quarter is mandatory. 


15. Must be in good moral standing, no pending or active administrative or criminal case at the time of application. If any Scholar figures in a lawsuit or infraction with the law while being a member, MMLM will provide initial legal counsel if eligible for representation. Otherwise, Scholar may opt for outside legal representation. 
 

16. A minimum of 2 years community service for every four years of college assistance is required amounting to at least 10 hours per week. Non-transferrable.

17. A scholar must undergo clinical skills and servant leadership certification, and annual recertification.

18. Criteria 1 to 18 are required, while 11 is optional.

 

19. For the Emil C. Tayag Scholarship Fund, everything else applies except for the followinga. No tuition fee assistance or incentives as described above, instead, only P1,000 monthly allowance. Any request for additional funding such as uniforms, miscellaneous, books, etc. shall be subject to approval as determined by the MMLM Board.  b. Must demonstrate financial need. Proof of indigency or BIR Tax Return is required. 


III. CRITERIA FOR THE MICAEL ALDAY, PT, MD YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP

1. Must be at least 3 to 16 years old at the time of application. 

2. Must be a member of the MMLM Youth Choir

Must attend required practice and activity hours every 2nd and last Saturday or Sunday of the month for a total of 6 hours a month. 

 

3. Scholar’s parent/s or guardian must consent to and sign up for activities. 

 

4. Minimum stipend of P200 a month is given to a Scholar pending completion of 6 hours a month of volunteer time; parent or guardian MUST receive stipend on behalf of the Scholar, otherwise, stipend will not be released directly to the Scholar. 

 

5. Stipend is released to the parent/guardian of the Scholar only if 6 hours a month volunteer time is completed, 3 hours each every 2nd and last Saturday or Sunday. 

 

6. Must be enrolled in school and have satisfactory grades at the time of application.

8. A scholar must undergo clinical skills and servant leadership certification, and annual recertification.

IV. MMLM SCHOLAR CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Must comply to Scholarship provisions
2. Must uphold MMLM Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Community, Empowerment, Excellence and Financial Stewardship
3. Must observe and exercise temperance and good behavior at all times during official MMLM activities. 
4. Must not utter invectives and must not be emotionally and physically abusive and  violent toward another Scholar or MMLM member. 
5. Disciplinary action by the MMLM Parents’ Board as follows:
aa. First offense: verbal warning
bb. Second offense: written warning
cc. Third offense: Expulsion from the Scholarship to be signed and recommended by the Executive Director and acknowledged/signed by Scholar or by the Scholar’s parent as the case may be. 
6. Invectives are spoken harsh words; emotional/physical abuse and violence are discussed separately elsewhere. 
7.  Only formal verbal and/or written complaints will be entertained.

It is through the auspices of the MMLM Bebe Pajo, MD Scholarship Fund that Sadik will fulfill his dream of becoming a Medical Doctor.

MMLM 2018 BEBE C. PAJO, MD POST GRAD SCHOLARSHIP

The MMLM Leadership and Board of Directors are proud to recognize Jonathan G. Maglaya as the 1st Recipient of the Bebe C. Pajo, MD Scholarship Fund. 

Through this Scholarship Fund, Jonathan will pursue Medicine either at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), Saint Louis University (SLU) or the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMCI) in June, 2018. Hopefully by 2022, Sadik will be the first Medical Doctor of MMLM. 

Better known as “Sadik,” his name means “Friend” in Arabic. Sadik Gatchalian Maglaya loves life and the good risks that come with it. His pursuit of happiness entails a fine balance between the practice of Nursing and dirt biking. 

As a nurse, he has diversified his practice from community to dialysis nursing. As an MMLM Volunteer, he worked his way up and now sits in a leadership position being the Training Officer of MMLM. 

Join us in congratulating Sadik on this monumental achievement. MMLM would like to thank his many years of servitude. God bless you in this exciting chapter of life!

The MMLM Leadership is proud to recognize Sherdelajoy Estalilla as our First Recipient of the MMLM College & Post-Grad Scholarship Fund for the School year 2017-2018.

She is currently a first year Nursing Student at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Agoo La Union Campus.

Joy, as she is fondly called by family and friends started volunteering forMMLM in 2014. Her siblings Zarah Estalilla Cuasay and Zed P. Estalilla are also MMLM Volunteers.

Melchizedik P. Estalilla finally graduated from his nursing program and is now eligible to take the National Nursing Licensure Examination in the Philippines. Zed has been designated as a member of MMLM Executive team and a Servant Leadership facilitator.

The Maglaya Medical-Legal Missions, Inc Leadership (MMLM), Board of Trustees and Executive Team are proud to award Melchizedek Posadas Estalilla Zed Sab Sabali the Emil C. Tayag Scholarship Fund for School Year 2018 to 2019. Together with Melody Manongdo, he is the second recipient of this Scholarship Fund.

 

Balong, as he is fondly called by family and friends is a second year Nursing Student at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University South La Union Campus (DMMSU-SLUC). He is diligent and hardworking. Balong is the youngest child of Samuel Estalilla and “Baby” Jesusa Estalilla. Like his siblings, Zarah Estalilla Cuasay and Sherdelajoy Estalilla, he started volunteering with MMLM in 2014.

Let’s congratulate Balong on this monumental feat. Thank you for your service to MMLM. May you continue to be a blessing to others.

She is currently preparing for the NMAT exams as a requirement for Medical School. She hopes to start Medicine Proper in 2019.

The MMLM Leadership is proud to recognize Jahxine Kyla Ducusin Gachallan as one of the recipients of the MMLM College and Post-Grad Scholarship Fund for the calendar year 2017-2018.

 

Kyla is a 3rd year BS Psychology student at Saint Louis University, Baguio City where she is a consistent honor student and Dean's Lister. She plans to become a Medical Doctor.

 

She is the younger of two daughters of Jose Gachallan and Jocelyn Ducusin Gachallan. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Rodrigo Ducusin, recipient of the 2015 Jesus E. Maglaya Jr. Exemplary Citizen Award.

First Recipient of the Emil C. Tayag, MD Scholarship Fund

The Maglaya Medical-Legal Missions, Inc. Leadership (MMLM), Board of Trustees and Executive Team are proud to recognize Melody Manongdo as the first scholar of the Emil C. Tayag, MD Scholarship Fund. She became a Scholar in June 2017 to date.

 

Melody as she is fondly called by family and friends, is on her final year as an Education Major at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University South La Union Campus (DMMSU-SLUC). She is also a DMMMSU Scholar. And a Practicum Teacher at the Caba Elementary School.

 

She has progressively taken on greater responsibilities from MMLM Choir Coordinator to Youth and Community Outreach Coordinator. In her current role, she is responsible for Choir recruitment and retention as well as educating the community at large about MMLM’s Brand, “Community Service with a Heart.” Melody is the child of Marie and Larry Manongdo.
